History of Northern Rail Services
Railroad Construction in New England has always been a passion of Michael D’Amours. After serving his country in the Navy for 6 years Mike worked for 20 years at Conrail as a track inspector and foreman.
Conrail is a terminal and switching service provider for its owners, Consolidated Rail Corporation (CSX) Transportation and Norfolk Southern (NS). Conrail provides safe and efficient rail service for many local rail freight customers in New England and as far as Detroit, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. Customers located along Conrail’s lines in these shared asset areas have access to the nation’s rail network through either NS or CSX. Conrail’s size and educational opportunities unlocked the door for Mike to pursue his dream of owning and operating a railway servicing company.
In 1995, Northern Rail Services, Inc. became a reality and has grown organically ever since. Mike’s professional commitment to his mission, vision and core values has built a strong reputation throughout New England, servicing the rail needs of private and public industries ensuring safe efficient rail system(s) and cost effect, strategic repairs keeping railway lines operating when others cannot.
